Our History

The Green Mission Initiative (GMI) is a Non-Governmental organization that was founded by dedicated women and youth in the year 2020 and legally registered in Kenya and Somalia. It is mainly committed to combating and reducing the various harmful human activities that cause many undesirable effects to the environment which can be threatening human rights, human health, economy, peace and justice, natural resources and gene pool of ecosystems such as pollutions, desertification, greenhouse effect, global warming and soil erosion through promotion and implementation of environmental governance and sustainable development practices, policies and strategies. It aims to achieve this through knowledge management and dissemination, training, education, research, advocacy and awareness creation.The Green Mission Initiative acknowledges the paramount role played by women and youth in the prevention of environmental degradation and supports their initiatives and contributions in the conservation and management of natural resources through initiation and strengthening policies and interventions that promotes gender equality and mainstreaming. Its policies and programs are also geared towards strengthening the role of women and girls in protection and preservation of natural diversity of plants and animals, and their habitats and support women to gain access to ecosystems services and livelihoods
